The former singer with The United States Of America had a remarkable 2023, releasing the acclaimed Under An Endless Sky with The United States of Alchemy, and this digital-only album, celebrating the second anniversary of the launch of the Webb Space Telescope. Fifty-six years after the self-titled album by the pioneer- ing psychedelic electronic group The United States Of America, she’s still out there exploring. Initially, Moskowitz wanted to record an instrumental album of electronics and her own viola and piano, but on each track her voice, sometimes overlapping with her vocalist daughter, Melissa Falarski, hangs over shifting abstract soundscapes that include sequencers and NASA record- ings. “What seemed so alien before is so close”, she intones on Spectra, and on First Deep Field she notes that we can now see “the dust of all that’s lived and died”, in an eerie musing upon existence and the vastness of the universe, no less.

“Clear and precise, her voice carries with it the years of experience that give the words “It pounds out a reckoning / And beckons me to face up to myself” real weight — more prophetic than theoretical.”

“[t]he music here possesses considerable depth, edge, and at times, startling power”

“[a]bsorbing, thoughtful, and well-crafted, but those hoping to relive the heady joys of “The American Metaphysical Circus” or “Love Song for the Dead Che” will need to adjust their expectations. Moskowitz feels in no way beholden to her past, and these billowing clouds of sound feel like a bold, uncompromising expression of her musical ideas in the 21st century and the sound of an artist confidently exploring new worlds. Under an Endless Sky is not the United States of America, nor does it need to be. This is music that confirms Dorothy Moskowitz is a seeker looking forward, and what she sees is well worth hearing.”
Mark Deming – Allmusic.om Review
‘Under An Endless Sky’ represents the interchange that took place between electronic composer Francesco Paolo Paladino, composer and writer Luca Chino Ferrari, and the legendary Dorothy Moskowitz, an icon of underground culture who broke all kinds of new ground as a member of The United States of America.

“With textures that hint at ambient music, it’s a less frenzied work. But the aura of surrealism remains, steered by a vocalist who, young or old, serenades the land of dreams.”
Jay Ruttenberg, The New Yorker Magazine
“The United States of Alchemy, is an ethereal delight that variously calls to mind other idiosyncratic geniuses like Nico, Marianne Faithfull and Robert Wyatt, as well as Terry Riley, Mercury Rev and Flaming Lips.”

“Moskowitz . . . whose alto delivered the lyrics — which are alternately evocative and foreboding — with a cool precision reminiscent of an icier Grace Slick.”

“Dorothy Moskowitz is an American singer and songwriter, who was most notably a lead vocalist in the experimental rock band the United States of America. Moskowitz and the band, though not too commercially successful, produced some of the earliest examples of electronic rock.”
Michael Limnios – Q&A with American singer and songwriter Dorothy Moskowitz
“Dorothy Moskowitz is perhaps my favorite lead vocalist in any band due to her ability to sound both domineering and delicate, soothing and off-putting, all at the same time. She’s like a femme fatale or fairy tale witch, luring you in with her genteel femininity but you can sense she’s leading you somewhere unpleasant.”
Cassandra Burke – The Crown Jewel of Psychedelic Rock
